“Most perfect house in the British Isles” up for auction with £250k-£500k guide

It’s very rare to see an entire estate go up for sale by auction. It’s blue moon time when it includes a property of the stature of Halswell House. Let alone with a guide price of £250k-£500k.

  1. Ann Manders says:

Halswell House and various other properties on the Halswell Estate site will be sold at auction on 17 December. The house is being advertised at a very low guide price but will require a huge amount of capital investment – both in terms of initial renovation and on-going future maintenance. As a Grade I listed building Halswell is of exceptional importance and deserves sensitive and appropriate management solutions in the future. In addition the sale includes 30 acres of parkland along with various follies and buildings currently included on the ‘At Risk Register’. Any potential buyer should strongly consider taking specialist advice from the Sedgemoor District Conservation Officer or English Heritage before proceeding to bid at auction.
The Halswell Park Trust remains committed to the conservation of the Park and various buildings and follies and would welcome the opportunity to work alongside any future owners.
