One of the most successful prime resi developers currently operating in the capital, Charles Gourgey and Chris Lanitis’ Amazon Property has delivered over 60 design-led schemes in some of prime central London’s finest addresses, attracting buyers from over 20 different countries. 

Amazon has set new standards for conversion projects, creating benchmark office-to-resi and hotel-to-resi schemes with enviable timing in some of PCL’s most exciting and top-performing districts.

Including the creation of Art Deco-inspired laterals in Marylebone, the remarkable transformation of a Grade I John Nash crescent opposite Regent’s Park, and the reimagining of an iconic former hotel in Bayswater, here’s the firm’s top ten projects to date…

PROJECT ONE:

The Pall Mall Collection

  • Location: St James’s, Westminster
  • Date: 2015

Located on one of London’s most prestigious streets, the Pall Mall Collection comprises four lateral apartments of 1,762 square feet and a striking duplex penthouse of 2,575 square feet with north and south-facing terraces. Interiors incorporate the finest materials from antique bronze ironmongery to Calacatta Michelangelo Marble, taken from the same quarry that Michelangelo used for his Statue of David. The distinctive natural stone has been used in the kitchens and wall-to-floor in the bathrooms.

The scheme is a prime example of a striking office to residential conversion in the St James’s area, having undergone façade retention to complement the area’s beautiful Georgian streetscape. As a further example of the prestige of the area, an art gallery can be found on the ground floor which has recently been let to leading contemporary art gallery Alan Cristea.

PROJECT TWO:

The Maddox Collection

Amazon Property has transformed a former office block on Maddox Street W1, adjacent to Liberty London, to provide five exclusive apartments and a 2,142 square foot duplex penthouse. The Maddox Street collection comprises one, two and three bedroom apartments, with a select few offering an additional study or bedroom. All come with private outdoor space, a rare commodity in prime central London.

Each apartment is individually designed to accommodate modern living, with open-plan living spaces and feature the finest Italian marble throughout, the same Calacatta marble used within the Pall Mall Collection. The distinctive natural stone has been used in the kitchens for the worktops and features floor-to-wall in the master en suites and bathrooms.

PROJECT THREE:

The Hempel Collection: Hempel Square & Hempel Gardens

A joint venture project between Amazon Property and British Land, the Hempel Collection is a conversion of the former Comfort Inn Hotel and The Hempel Hotel on Craven Hill Gardens, Bayswater. The site consists of both Hempel Square and Hempel Gardens, which comprise of 15 and 18 stunning new homes respectively.

The development boasts a combination of luxurious white stucco façades, generous high ceilings and inspired contemporary interiors, which feature light-filled open plan living areas with double aspect windows which offer pleasant views of the private resident’s garden square, ideal for entertaining guests or enjoying with the family.

Park Crescent

The renovation of Park Crescent, a Grade I listed Georgian terrace originally designed by John Nash, the architect behind Buckingham Palace, provides a stunning collection of high-quality lateral apartments and mews houses in the heart of Marylebone.

The majestic, cream stucco-fronted portfolio of adjoining properties is situated in the exclusive southern most point of Regents Park. Each of the ground floor and first floor apartments take advantage of the double height ceilings and grand, spacious light filled living spaces, varying from 1,255 square feet to 4,130 square feet.

The Collingham Collection

Whilst the building retains its stucco façade, the interiors have been transformed to provide classic-contemporary living spaces with luxurious features such as private lift access, White Carrara marble and Azul Cascais stone flooring as well as striking spiral staircases. The development’s terraces and balconies overlook the attractive St Jude’s Church as well as a private garden square.

Buckingham House

Amazon Property sympathetically transformed a former office building on Buckingham Street preserving its grand red brick and 1930’s Portland stone façade. The scheme comprises just seven exquisite lateral apartments set across five floors of an impressive Art Deco, corner side building.

Each of the one, two and three bedroom apartments have been thoughtfully designed with a contemporary feel, featuring, solid oak flooring and handpicked Bianco Gioia Marble bathrooms which include recessed waterproof televisions and striking free standing bath tubs.

PROJECT SEVEN:

Upper Wimpole Street

This beautiful Grade II listed building is situated in one of the most desirable areas of prime central London, adjacent to Marylebone High Street and Regent’s Park.
